I can definitely tell the difference between spinach and kale. Either kale is strong or I didn't include enough fruits but it's still drinkable. I'm having it as mid-morning snack.
1 cup water
kale
blueberries
frozen banana
orange
1 TBSP flax seeds

I decided to juice today and having it as a mid-morning snack. It's pretty similar to yesterday but I definitely see why this recipe is for juice and not smoothie. Today's experiment is much better. I'm stopping by the store today to pick up some kale.
Romaine lettuce
lemon
celery
cucumber
green grapes
an apple

Today I had my smoothie for lunch versus breakfast. I also learned things like apples/celery/lemons need to be cut into smaller pieces for my Vitamix but then again it doesn't help that the recipe I used was for a juver versus a blender..oops! It still turned it fine. I will make the juice tomorrow; it's the juice from the documentary Sick Fat and Nearly Dead.
Mean Green Juice
4 stalks of celery
1 cucumber
1 ginger root - (thumb size)
1/2 lemon
2 green apples
6 kale leaves ( I used the last bit of spinach I had)

Well today I had my smoothie(tasted more like a treat), walked the dog and took my vitamin.
P. Chocolate Smoothie
1 c almond milk
1/2 frozen banana
1/2 c frozen green peas
2 tbsp unsweetened cocoa
I decided to have it as a mid morning snack instead of breakfast. You can't taste the peas, mainly the cocoa. It's only 108 calories

At the beginning of last month, I signed up for the Blockbuster special offer. I was suppose to get 1000SB but never did. I waited a couple of weeks and finally contacted customer service of Peanut Labs(that's who was sponsoring the deal). I had to contact them first before attempting with Swagbucks customer service. Needless to say I didn't hear anything back from them by the end of the month so I contacted Swagbucks.
Within a day or two of my email complaint my account was finally credited my 1000SB!! Thank you very much, I will go and order my AGCs with that
I will also be keeping my eye on the hourly winner on their homepage, they're giving away 4000SB for this month. That would be sweet to snag!

Another refreshing drink to start the day off.
1 c water
2 c romaine lettuce
1 TBS flax seed
1 banana
1 c blueberries
The berries made it purple in color instead of green; this is a little trick I read about to trick the kids into drinking smoothies with veggies. You should join creditcardfree and I on our monthly green smoothie challenge!

With the coupons I had and the ones that they were giving out at the store, I saved 21%. There were a couple high vaule coupons the lady was handing out. Save $5 on certain products, so I bought 2 Kraft Deli style turkey lunch meat. These were the 1 pound tubs going for $3.50 each. After coupon I got both for $2. I also bought 2 one pound bags of the Kraft shredded cheese. Before coupon $6, after coupon $1 for both. I love when that happens!

Well I retired from the military 1 Sep and finally got my rating from the VA. At the moment it equals out to about an extra $600(tax free) a year. I have a follow-up appointment with the VA on Tuesday and I hope that will increase my rating as well but I won't have a decision on that for another couple months I'm sure.
For those that aren't familiar with the military, when you retire you can claim ailments with the VA(Veteran Affairs) for those things that came about or worsened due to military service. The VA makes the final determination of how much you're given. Of course you can appeal if you don't agree and that's what I plan on doing but for now I will take that $600 with a

Well I finally caved in and bought one. QVC had it as a today's special a couple of days ago. Also went through www.shopathome.com and will receive $15 back.
Although I'm debt free and only have a mortgage to worry about, it was still somewhat hard for me to buy it seeing how much it cost. Am I really that frugal?? In ways I am and I'm glad about it becuase it allows me to live like noone else.
I plan on using the Vitamix to help me achieve my 2012 goal of eating healthier. I guess I can pay the price now or pay the doctor later

Many of us here use coupons to save money but what do you do with the ones that expire or don't use. Now you can adopt a military base overseas to send them to. Seeing how I'm a veteran and couponer, I jumped all over this and adopted a base in Germany I was once stationed at. Visit www.ocpnet.org! Just another great, small way to support our troops!

If you're like me, you probably never heard of www.bountifulbaskets.org. I heard about it on another forum I visit. I figured since I wanted to start eating healthier for 2012 then I would give it a try. You get about $50 worth of fruits and veggies for $15.
Today I got tomatoes, grapes, apples, brocoli, tangerines, bananas, radishes, english cucumber, spinach, 3 lb bag of pears. They also have organic boxes for $10 more and every week they have certain add-ons like 5 loaves of bread for $10.
7 doz tortillas for $10. They have granola and cookies and bulk produce for canning.
Anyway it's a co-op so it's all volunteer and I just wanted to share. You will have to visit their site to see if it's in your area.

While cleaning out an old back pack, I found a necklace that I had bought from Kohls. It still had the tags and the receipt was in there too. I remember my intentions were to return it but I never did until today. $9 snowflake!

I got blackberries, strawberries, and bananas for 99 cents each. I also got some Christmas gift boxes that were marked down to 39 cents. There's two in each box.
I noticed that they also had the big tubs of organic spinach or mixed greens that are normally expensive elsewhere for 99 cents.
So don't bypass your local 99 cents store, there's savings to be had!!

Eventhough we all may pay some if not most of our bills automatically, we should still look at the bill itself. By looking at my cable bill this month I noticed they charged me $40 for a service call I had a couple of weeks ago. I called them immediately and told them I was told there wouldn't be a fee. Luckily the guy reversed the charge.
So lesson learned for the day: look at each bill monthly regardless of how the bill is paid.

In December 2010, I read on another blog about an idea of saving all your dollar bills so I decided to try it for the year. Well as of when I make my deposit tomorrow my total for Dec 2010-Dec 2011 is $397! That's not bad if I do say so myself. That just goes to prove that small amounts do add up over time so stay encouraged everyone!
I will definitely be doing this for 2012 as well.

I watched this documentary last night and it definitely has me thinking. It advocates for whole food plant based eating. I'm not saying I'm jumping on the vegan wagon yet but I will be reading more about how I can incorporate more plant based food in my eating versus animal based. Has anyone else watched it?
