Important Documents

February 10th, 2013 at 10:17 pm

So today I've been scanning in important documents so that I have a backup for the originals in case of emergencies. Below is what I've done so far, do u guys see anything I've missed? Now that I have things scanned in, I plan on printing them out and putting copies in my "love box"; the originals go back into my fire proof safe. I already have electronic copies of insurance police(auto and home) so that's why they're not on the list.

Birth certificates
Marriage/Divorce certificates
Driver's License/Passport/ID cards
SS cards
DD Form 214
Immunization records
Car title
Bill of Sale for car since it was a private sale
Front and back of debit/credit cards(yes I still have a credit card but any charges are paid in full every month)
VA Disability award paperwork

LES? My hubby insists I keep ALL of them. He's been in over 20 years, so you can imagine the file size.

Will? Power of Attorney? Health Care Directive?

@CCF I should have included that I have the will and stuff electronically stored already as well. Wow u guys keep all of your LES?? I think I will just include the 1099R(LES for retirees) that I got at end of year instead of monthly. Thanks!

I would include household inventory, Health Care Directive, and end of year pay stub that shows annual income and totals for each deduction, Statement of Net Worth in the scan. Each year we send ourselves an e-mail attachment with the information you've mentioned so that we could access important information from any computer should we suffer devastation like Katrina or Sandy.
