Disconnect Day-Jan 2013

January 16th, 2013 at 04:26 pm

Thanks to those that joined me! I'm Back!! Wow that was somewhat harder than I thought but I DID IT!!! It's just crazy how I have become so "consumed" by the internet. The main thing that I learned but kinda already knew is that its a time filler for me. I learned that whenever I don't want to do something or I get bored then I just grab my laptop to waste time. Another thing I think will help with this is to not have my laptop in my bedroom. Since I have the wireless router, it makes it so easy to just grab it but I think if I left it in the computer room then I wouldn't use it as much(at least that's my thought process). So my 1st Disconnect Day is now complete, only 11 more to go!

Love the disconnect idea! Congratulations on accomplishing your first day. I think I also do a lot of bored surfing Smile

It was definitely harder than I though too. I suppose the more we do the better it may be? I did put my laptop on my basement desk Monday night and didn't even see it yesterday. Too cold to go down there right now!

The only cheat may have been that DH used his laptop to stream a tv show to our television. I watched the show, but other than that...I was off it completely the whole day.

Nice. That's why I've held off on getting Internet in my condo - I can take my Netbook (getting a little exercise) 3-4 blocks to four coffeehouses or to the neighborhood library. And then there's work. It means that I will write a list of what I have to do/connect with who I have to connect, do it and be done. Something about living in the present and in the concrete world that's grounding and restful.

Had you considered using surfing or checking out sites like SA as a reward for doing tasks you disliked or completing tasks that you'd been delaying? It feels more positive than denying yourself enjoyable experiences.so man In these hectic times when so many expect so much from us it's important to have something to look forward to doing.

I can't imagine doing this. Connecting on line is my down time.
