Calling All Veterans

Please look into whether your state gives you an exemption for car registration/property taxes. I retired last year and recently learned that the state of Nevada does in fact give an exemption. So I went to the assessor's office with my DD214 in hand and got my voucher for $121. I registered my car this morning so instead of paying $196, I paid $75.

Just wanted to pass this info on so we are not missing out on any of our valued benefits!!

Good advice. I cannot remember whether I posted it in my blog (meant to!) but at least one utility company in my state has aid set aside for military families.

Nice benefit and savings for you!

I double checked and this is not offered in our state. However, 18 months ago they began exempting all active military income from taxes. An even better benefit! These benefits can sneak up on us, so it is good to be on the look out for changes.

I think it is great that there are states who will make decisions like this one that lead to savings for service members. Thanks for letting us know about it! The fact that companies are willing to follow suit (and I mean regular companies, not even insurance/banking companies like USAA that are affiliated with the military) makes the sacrifices a little more worthwhile.
